Are You Unintentionally Sabotaging Your Diet plan?

Everybody knows that the most beneficial foods we can eat are whole grains, lean meats and healthy fats. These would be the ingredients which will give us the energy and protein we need. They keep our bodies balanced nutritionally but don’t stuff us full of empty calories that will later need to be burned off at the gym. Did you already know however that a number of the diet foods you’ve been eating may have been hindering your ability to lose weight? They might be even adding fat laden calories to your body! Here are some of the foods that you could be consuming which are hurting your efforts to lose weight.

Sports Drinks usually do not truly help you. You’ve probably been thinking that the sports drink is the best way to help your body feel much better after a workout. Most medical doctors concur, however, that if your exercise session is shorter than ninety minutes, drinking water should be fine. Sports drinks are loaded with sugar and calories and a lot of other things you don’t need like artificial flavors and colors which defeat any attempts at eating only natural products. Try drinking some chocolate milk as an alternative. The sugar in chocolate can help your muscles begin to mend themselves and the calcium in the milk will strengthen your bones.

Skip the protein shakes. Lots of people think that protein shakes can be utilized in place of meals and to curb cravings between meals. The truth of the matter is that if you are already eating a balanced diet all the protein shake does is overburden your system with protein. No matter what other people believe, protein is not stashed in the muscles, it is stored in your body as fat. This means that when you have taken in an excessive amount of protein during the day your body stores what it doesn’t need in your fat, which won’t help you lose weight or inches at all.

Pre-packaged deli meat isn’t nearly as good for you as you might believe that it is. You might believe that a sandwich made from whole wheat bread and pre-packaged lean deli meat makes for a good lunch. Actually, pre-packaged deli meat has way too many preservatives as well as sodium (one portion contains about a third of the amount of sodium you should eat in a day). This could be specifically dangerous if you are at risk for heart disease. Rather than purchasing pre-packaged deli meat, select some home cooked poultry or the deli meat that is newly sliced at your deli counter. Sure these are generally the more expensive options but they are rather a lot healthier for you.

There are many things that we believe are healthier than others like choosing a whole wheat bagel each morning when the truth is that a bowl of cinnamon sprinkled oatmeal is a much healthier choice. Ask your doctor which things are the finest to eat and then follow the directions you are given. If you are very careful about what you eat and are also good to your system, losing weight probably won’t be all that big an issue.
